Who is Pierre Michel Chéry? – P. M. Chéry was born in Saint Michel (southern Haiti). He studied Statistics and Computer Science at CEFORSI (Centre de Formation de Statisticiens et d’Informaticiens), 1980. In 1983, he received a diploma in Business Management from INAGHEI (Institut National d’Aministration de Gestion et des Hautes Etudes Internationales). He studied Linguistics at FLA (Faculté de Linguistique Appliquée, Université d’Etat d’Haïti), 1994. In 2002, P. M. Chéry completed a Masters degree in Information Technology.

He is mostly found in activities related to Computer Science in Haiti. Nevertheless, aside from his professional activities, P. M. Chéry shows his willingness to take part in many activities dealing with defending and promoting creole languages and cultures. He is known more abroad because of the articles he’s been publishing online in Haitian Creole on a variety of subjects (for organizations that are promoting the creole languages). P. M. Chéry has been collaborating with REKA (Rezo Entènèt Kreyolis Ayisyen | Network of Haitians creolophone writers) and IOCP (International Organization of Creole People), making common cause with militants who are working for the advancement of the creole languages. He has published two novels: Eritye Vilokan (2001) and Bèbè Golgota (2008).
