Jude Baptiste feels blessed to publish a story he carries close to his heart. This story details the daily lives of Haitian Sugar Cane Cutters in the Dominican Republic’s Bateys, an experience that has taken his mind way back to the time of slavery.

He describes the living conditions of those humble workers and their daily abuse and suffering in that southeastern region of the country as a crime against human rights. His first hand experiences are from the time he served as a volunteer social worker and Evangelist at the First Haitian Missionary Baptist Church of La Romana, Dominican Republic from 1994-1998.

He considers this book as an effort to educate others about the plight of these people. His passion and talent for photography helped him capture those living there and to narrate their thoughts so that the readers would experience the tragic lives of the Haitian Sugar Cane Cutters in the Dominican Republic Bateys. Jude wants to explain that the cost of the book is a little high because of the color pictures. His profit will be used to purchase the Holy Bible in Creole and French for churches in Haiti. He also hopes to fund a program in Haiti to feed people.
