History: Poet, playwright, diplomat, essayist, humanist Massillon Coicou rebelled against the bloody dictatorship of Nord Alexis who, already, signed agreement with the United States to help him seize control of the government, crush Antenor Firmin’s opposition while helping the US consolidate its Monroe Doctrine in the Americas. Massillon Coicou, along with his brothers Horace and Louis and several anti-Alexis insurgents were executed by Nord Alexis’s troops on the night of 14–15 March 1908.
